So…who am I??? I’m Julie Brown. I’ve been in the media, video and advertising industry in South Africa for almost 15 years. Over my career I’ve had the privilege and honour of working with some incredible people who I’ve learnt so much from and I continue to learn more about this space as it changes every single day. I’m also a mom of 2 wildly different and crazy kids who push me to my absolute limits every day. They force me to look for ways to be better and make sure I always come back to the most important things that matter the most.
Life feels super simple, linear, when it’s just you and your career. Then you get married and it gets a little more complicated. Then you have kids and it becomes A LOT more complicated. Suddenly you look back and like a dodgy renovation project, lots of small alterations have been made, additions were added without the right support structures and now the foundations are starting to crack under the weight.
I’ve always defined myself by the work I do, the accolades I’ve achieved and the titles I’ve earned along the way. This blog is part of my process to find some more balance in my life. My way of focusing some of my energy on the things I really love the most in life! My family, my home and the natural world around me.
So we decided to take back the control. Here we are, renovating our life! From the foundations up, we’re refocusing, rebuilding, refurbing and refreshing it all. Wish us luck on the journey!
