Bob and weave!

Here we are almost a year into our journey!

I’d like to say we’ve made good progress but the truth is it’s been damn slow and we’ve hit a lot of speed bumps along the way.

We’re still living in the cottage, we still don’t have approved plans for our reno and we still don’t have a clear idea when we’ll be able to complete this project.

‘Everyone has a plan ‘till they get punched in the face’

Mike Tyson

He said it best!

I’m a planner, a check-lister, a scheduler but I can do all of those things to the best of my ability and still things can go wrong. Much to my horror, I can’t control it all but what I can do is bob and weave and roll with the punches.

When you find yourself on the floor you still have choices.

Do you curl into the fetal position and weep?

Do you slam your fists on the floor and blame your opponent for cheating?

Do you grit your teeth, get back up, reassess and try a new angle?

Those big punches that put us on our asses are the ones that give us the opportunity to do it better the second time. Sometimes I have to go through the first 2 options before I get to the last option but inevitably the last will always yield better results.

We were supposed to be all moved in with our feet up by the end of February but here we are in July with half a house with half a roof.

On the bright side, our cottage is still serving us well, we’ve gathered a few more furry friends to fill our hearts and the kids are still enjoying life outside the city.

The entrance hall floors are in and the tiles I chose about 6 months ago are going into the kids bathroom.

We’ll continue to bob and weave and roll with the punches…and one day, when we’re sitting on our new patio, we’ll look back and remember this time.
